As more and more healthcare organizations adopt electronic health record (EHR) systems, cybersecurity becomes more important, EHR software developers stay busy and reap financial rewards, but patients and healthcare workers may struggle with learning new techniques. Even so, EHR and other information technologies, such as clinical decision support systems, reduce costs, improve efficiencies in operations, and may improve patient or client care.
In this assignment, you will access and read three short articles on a common theme regarding healthcare technology and record a presentation calling for action to improve conditions or procedures measured by the data in the articles.
Step 1. Access
Access the Health IT Dashboard Quick Stats site (linked on the Learning Objects page) and review some of the articles.
Step 2. Select
Select three articles related to a common theme, issue, or technology to study and present. These should represent important information for stakeholders in your current (or most recent) healthcare setting.
Step 3. Develop
Develop a proposal for an action (meeting, creation of health literacy resource, additional technology acquisition, formal site-based study, change in procedures/protocols, etc.) related to the data in the articles you selected. Support your proposal with additional research from a separate source of the data in the articles.
Step 4. Create
Create a presentation compiling your work from Steps 2-3 for a particular healthcare audience. Compile talking points or a script, including:
Self-introduction
Purpose of the presentation
Key statistics and their implications
Related evidence-based practices
Call for action (proposal)
References slide or graphic
Step 5. Record
Record a slide/audio presentation or video to share your work from Steps 2-4 with relevant healthcare stakeholders. Your presentation must be 5-10 minutes long. See the Learning Objects page for possible tools or use a tool of your choosing.
Step 6. Submit
Submit:
A link to your recorded presentation.
PPT slides with your script/talking points in the notes section of the slides.
A title slide and an APA-formatted references slide with at least six sources.
